UK to take in up to 3,000 refugee children

The British government plans to resettle up to 3,000 children from conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa by 2020
Britain announced plans Thursday to take in up to 3,000 of the most vulnerable children and their families from conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa by 2020. The scheme, drawn up in coordination with the UN refugee agency (UNHCR), is aimed at children deemed at risk of child labour, forced marriage and other forms of abuse or exploitation. It will affect children on their own and those accompanied by relatives or carers, and will see several hundred people resettled in the coming year, the Home Office interior ministry announced.

Since the dawn of human civilization, people have believed in a lot of half-baked notions. Some of these ideas have left behind millions of corpses in their wake. Our only hope is that in today's world of increasing complexity, the vast majority of people will come to believe that we have no choice but to make sense of our lives. With enough Ideological persuasion, and with enough Economic incentives, they may be moved to marginalize the extremists, and to shift the world in a slightly different direction, one that points to the possibility of peace.
