From the Open Forums Tuesday, January 06, 2009 Israeli Strike on Palestinian School? Israeli Strike on Palestinian School?
As Israel's military action continues in Gaza, one event is sure to be discussed for some time to come: An Israeli air strike near a United Nations-run school for Palestinian children. Though we do not yet know the exact number of casualties, it is possible that it is around thirty. Initially, the details of the event were sketchy, but as time passes, we now know more about this tragic – but entirely avoidable situation. Here are the details:
On January 6th, 2009, the IDF was in the midst of a military operation to stop the barrage of... Posted by NewsGuy 8 commentsSaturday, January 03, 2009 Palestinian Civilian Casualties As I watched TV reports of Israel’s military operation in Gaza, I was struck by the universal concern with the ongoing civilian casualties of the residents of Gaza. I heard various Muslim interviewees calling the situation “a massacre,” and the like. The pictures of the Palestinian dead were comprised of scenes of women and children being rushed to the hospital bleeding.
Watching these TV reports, I was almost convinced that there was not a single Hamas soldier in Gaza, nor a single rocket ever fired on Israeli civilians and, actually, no males living in Gaza, except for the hospital physicians.... Posted by NewsGuy 60 commentsSaturday, December 27, 2008 Should they send in ground troops? I say no. Hamas are more prepared to fight in head to head battle. Pounding them from the sky will save Israeli lives.
Sending ground troops into Lebanon did not do any good either.
Unless they know where Shalit is, I say definitely no to a ground operation.
I also say to definitely leave Hamas in power. This will ensure that Gaza and WB remain 2 separate entities and no foreign power will be able to force Israel to cut itself in half.
